Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theater.
City Development Survey :
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.
To whom it may concern. I appreciate the opportunity given to us to decide on a shopping mall or recreational park. After visiting a neighbouring town, which is not as large as ours, I agree with constructing a shopping mall in our town. Firstly, with a shopping mall, the residents will not have to travel to neighbouring towns to shop for their needs. There will be places for residents to visit, buy, eat, and even relax. Secondly, this will employ the residents. Residents will not have to commute to other nearby cities to work daily. Business owners will be able to hire residents who are qualified and willing to work. It will indeed reduce the unemployment rate, which has been increasing in the past years. I also believe that the construction of a shopping mall will generate more revenue for the government, and the tax paid will immensely increase the development of our community. Regards, Mike
