Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
Government is worried because of Discipline and respect in schools being replaced with harassment and violence, directed at teachers. Government has sent out an opinion survey to know about the possible ways to control the situation.
Public opinion survey:
Option A: Special training for the teachers: Special training sessions should be arranged for the school teachers.
Option B: Introduction of the new curriculum: New curriculum with yoga and meditation classes should be introduced.
To whom it may concern, The recent spike in violence and harassment incidents in the schools has degraded the value of one of the most respected profession; teaching. I appreciate the government's initiative to consider this matter. In my view, special training for the teachers is a more suited option due to social reasons. Conspicuously, the school teachers need to deal with the students of varied behavioural characteristics shaped by their upbringing, culture and society. Providing training to the teachers will broaden their horizon, and they will effectively demonstrate their people skills and subject expertise. On the other hand, a new curriculum will be an additional burden on the students. The excessive wait of the current curriculum is dragging the students backwards. The preparation of an additional subject for year-end exams would impact the core subject knowledge adversely. Considering these details, I believe government should create an extensive program for the training of the school teachers on people management skill. Again, this is my personal belief, but I will support whatever decision is made. Regards Thomas
