Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made an online purchase and the product was not the same as the description on the website.

Write an email to the website support department in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • What you purchased and when.
  • Exactly how it is different from the website description.
  • How you would like the company to fix the problem.

Dear Customer Support Department, I have been a loyal and satisfied customer and buying your products for the last three years. Five days back, I was shopping online and thrilled with your exclusive offers. I purchased a traffic operation and control book, which I need for my research project. Unfortunately, when I received the book, it was the sixth edition and what I ordered is the seventh edition. However, it was mentioned in the description on your website that it is the latest edition. In addition, it was highlighted that it would come with a transportation planning book free of charge, which also motivated me to proceed with the purchase that has not been delivered so far. I am appealing to your expertise to help me with this matter. Perhaps you could send me the book as described on the website or issue me the total refund. I hope you can help resolve the problem before I am forced to cancel my subscription to your website and go to another online shopping platform. Thank you for your prompt attention. Regards Tony
