Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built-in that area.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theater.
City Development Survey :
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.
I am a resident of this town for 20 years. Thank you for asking my opinion regarding the construction of Shopping Complex or Recreational Park. I prefer Option B. There are multiple benefits if a Recreation Park is built. Firstly, the town does not have any Recreational Park and we the residents have submitted a request to City Development for a Recreation park which includes a large green area, sports complex, kids play zone and a small petting zoo. Families can spend time together in the park as per their choices. Also, it can benefit the health of individuals as we can play sports. We can have fresh air in the green zone. Kids can play in the play area which makes them fresh and stay fit. Elders could spend their time in the evenings with their age groups. We can socially develop and make many new friends in the Recreation parks. All these kind of benefits will not be available when a Shopping complex is built. Moreover, our town has a couple of shopping complexes. I request you to consider the above-specified benefits of having a Recreational park. Thank you in advance. Regards, Felix
