Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You were charged for items which you have not purchased at the local grocery shop.

Write a letter to the manager of the grocery shop in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • Describe the problem that you have faced,
  • Explain the items you have purchased,
  • Suggest what the manager should do to resolve it.

Dear Manager, Yesterday, I came for grocery shopping in your store. When I checked the bill after reaching home, I found that some items were added to the bill, but I didn't buy them. I bought two family packs of bread, two packets of cookies(the small one), one bottle of 1litre coke, half kg onions, and 1 kg potatoes. But when I rechecked the bill, three packets of noodles and some snacks were also added. I come to your store almost every month, and this sort of thing has never happened before, but I think this was by mistake as there were many people present at the cash counter yesterday and there was only one person who was handling all the billing. I have some urgent work today so that I will come to the store tomorrow in the evening. I was hoping you could look into the matter and refund the money deducted for something I never got.
