Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Dear Manager, I want to express my concern about the meal service at your restaurant a couple of days ago. I have dined at your restaurant along with my family on January 11, and I must say our experience at your place was not as high as we expected it to be. On arrival, we had a parking issue which wasted our time. We had to go around the whole parking lot in search of an available spot. There was no hotel's representative nearby to seek for help. Also the food that is served to us didn't meet our expectations. We ordered a grilled chicken, but we got chicken that is barely cooked. We even noticed a kind of unpleasant smell from the seafood. When we have asked for the manager, the waiter said you were busy organising an event, and our problem was not resolved. I hope you would look into my concerns mentioned above and try to meet our customers' satisfaction. Thanks, Thomas.
