Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
Hostel management has decided to upgrade the security in and around the campus. The management has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have as new security measure.
You are residing in a College hostel :
Option A: New HD Night Vision Cameras covering the area around the hostel.
Option B: Installing biometric locks on the doors.
To whom it may concern. I think the new biometric locks on the doors would be a better choice, even though the new HD night vision cameras would be helpful in an emergency. The problem with our current security is that anyone can access the hostel because of the lax check-in process. Sometimes the gate is left unattended because the security guards were either on a break or switching shifts. For example, two years ago, a homeless man from downtown could get into the hostel with sharp weapons to harass the students. The second issue is that the current check-in process constitutes human error. The attendants at the check-in point make sure you have a student ID and do not go the extra mile to confirm with the picture on the ID or number with the system. For example, a friend of mine borrowed my card to take a nap in between classes. It would not happen when we get the new biometric locks as no two persons share fingerprints. Considering these reasons, I believe biometric locks would be a better option to ensure safety. Thank you for the chance. Regards, Tony
