Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Dear Restaurant Manager, I am writing this email to complain about the dinner served to us yesterday evening at your restaurant. On seeing multiple attractive advertisements, I visited your restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. We ordered a "roasted vegies in a pizza meal" from your menu. First of all, we had to wait for around 45 minutes just for a burger meal. During this waiting period, when I inquired about the status of my order, the waiter behaved rudely and refused to give any reason for the delay. Secondly, the food which they served was of inferior quality. The burger was very dry, and the cocktail was unusually sweet, and when we complained about it and asked your staff refused to add some sauce to the meal. Overall, I was very much dissatisfied with the service which your restaurant provided me yesterday. It spoiled my special day. Hence, I would request you to refund my money and train your waiters better so that in future they don't end up spoiling some other customer's special day. Regards Mia
