Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theatre.
City Development Survey :
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.
To whom it may concern. I think the development of a shopping mall, including restaurants, a supermarket, and a movie theatre, is a great choice. Even though I enjoy visiting the park, I believe the shopping complex will bring more benefits to the community members. The most significant benefit is creating a diversity of various cultures in our community. As a frequent traveller, I love to try different dishes that cut across various continents and cultures. For example, there has been so much talk about the Italian pasta and red wine that I'm so eager to try out. Also, the shopping mall will help families spend time together. For example, on a family day, a public holiday in Canada, I will love to bond with my family over a delicious three-course meal. This will save us the time and stress of preparing various food types at home. We also get to see a movie together after our meal and laugh our lungs out. Family day is a great day to appreciate our loved ones. We can visit the supermarket on our way home to grab beautiful wears for the adults and toys for the children. I think this will be a great all in one experience. Considering these reasons, I believe the shopping mall is a better choice. Everyone in my community will be overjoyed. Again, this is my opinion but will support any decision. Thank you for allowing me to provide my input on this issue. Regards, Mike
