Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions

Read the following information.

Hostel management has decided to upgrade the security in and around the campus. The management has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have as new security measure.

You are residing in a College hostel :

Option A: New HD Night Vision Cameras covering the area around the hostel.
Option B: Installing biometric locks on the doors.

To Whom it may concern. In response to your request for my opinion, I firmly prefer to install HD cameras around the residence. Even though the biometric locks provide some safety countermeasures, I believe Option A is safer and smart. Firstly, one significant benefit of having security cameras is the fact that it keeps records. This means that the offender will think twice before committing any offence. In other words, the footage of the scene can be brought up for investigation and identify the thieve and charge him or her to face justice. Also, the CCTV system may be integrated with the rescue department for any incident. Another point to consider is that installing locks would not deter criminals. Thieves have their way to break the doors, especially when no one at the hostel's room. Statistics have proven the cameras' effectiveness over the installing biometric locks since it reduced the " break" incidents by 63%. Considering these points, I think Option A is the viable choice and would promote the residence's safety whilst, Option B does not provide any solution for our dorm's security and is not feasible.
