Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently purchased a furniture from renowned furniture brand,

Write a letter to manager complaining about the poor quality of the furniture in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • Give details of the nature of the complaint,
  • Request for immediate repair or replacement as needed.

Hi Sir/Madam, I am writing this letter about a piece of furniture I purchased from your shop last week on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the quality of a couch was below the level of my expectation, and it hurt my guests invited on my birthday. Last Sunday, It was my birthday. I invited a couple of friends to throw a party at my home. To give them a nice look at my house and seating arrangement, I asked them to sit on a couch. They were two persons. As they sit on it for around 5 minutes, they heard a weird sound from a piece of wood attached to the couch. Suddenly, the legs of a couch broke, they fell and got some injury on their head. Furthermore, its fibre was torn. I felt humiliated in front of my best friends. I want to request you to replace my recently purchased couch and get it delivered to my home in the next three days as my elder sister-in-law is coming back to meet me after completing her education in the USA. Please make sure that the quality manager inspects the quality of the furniture not to happen again. Regards Mark
