Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Dear Restaurant Manager, My name is Mike. Last week, I was at your restaurant with my family and friends. I booked your restaurant to celebrate my son's first birthday, but I didn't get the food and services as I expected. I am writing this email to express my dissatisfaction with your food and services provided by the staff. Firstly, We didn't get the same food which I've ordered at booking time. Moreover, The food served by your restaurant was cold and not cooked properly. Secondly, The staff was not professional and did not know how to talk to a customer. I would say your staff was irresponsible because one of my friends asked for a glass of water, but the server never came back. Although my friends and I were really disappointed by your food and services are given by your staff. I want to request you to address this problem wisely; otherwise, your business may lose valuable customers as we know word mouth has a detrimental effect. I look forward to you give me a full refund for the event and a one-time dinner offer with my family at your restaurant, so I can come again where I can get the best services from your staff, and I can feel the difference. Thank you, Regards, Mike
