Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theatre.
City Development Survey :
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.
To whom it may concern, I am happy to see the city taking surveys before making decisions without understanding what the people want. Though the shopping complex seems very exciting, I still choose Recreational Park. I am choosing Recreational Park mainly because it will help us fight the pollution and give us cleaner air, which has become very rare nowadays. Moreover, we only have one sports complex in our town, making it very inconvenient as many teams have to wait and reserve their seats two weeks before practise. This problem will be easily solved with the construction of the new sports complex. A small petting zoo will be very educational and entertaining for the children of our town and our neighbouring towns. Along with this, a large green area will be a perfect sandbox for children and adults as they will be able to go for picnics, jogging, and do many other extracurricular activities. I believe the recreational park will improve the residents' health drastically and help us all stay positive and appreciate the beauty of nature. I thank the city council for considering my opinions and believe the residents' right choice will be made. Regards Thomas
