Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theatre.
City Development Survey :
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.
While I do see the benefit of constructing a shopping mall, I believe that building a recreational park is a better choice because it will allow people to remain healthy and physically fit. Firstly, athletic playgrounds will be the greatest motivating factor for all those residents who love sports. It will allow them to play games like volleyball, baseball, basketball, etc. It's a wonderful opportunity to develop our city since there is no sports club built yet. Secondly, not only youngsters but also people from the older generation will be able to spend some time out of their houses in the garden. Evenings are the best time for grandparents to visit the park with their grandchildren to spend some quality time. This way, they will be able to refresh their mind and energize themselves. Lastly, the idea of a petting zoo will amaze the children. Kids will be able to spend some time in the animal park as a picnic spot and observe the animals with enthusiasm. They will learn about different species of animals. In summary, whilst a commercial centre has its own advantages, planning to develop a recreational park will be an asset for the people from all age groups.
