Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theatre.
City Development Survey :
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.
To whom it may concern. Due to the ever-increasing population, people struggle in finding fresh air where they live. Losing greenery, as a result, has been a significant problem. Therefore, I firmly believe that constructing a recreational park is a better option and needed at this point. To start with, building a modern recreational park will reinforce the existing green areas. As building developments are expanding from downtown to rural areas, large trees are cut down to make space for new construction, decreasing the oxygen level and increasing air pollution. Planting new trees will support the green corridor in town. On top of that, adding a sports complex will promote a healthy lifestyle. Due to a heavy work schedule, residents will likely suffer from back pain after a long period of sitting. Having an indoor gym or swimming pool will encourage residents to participate in activities that promote a healthy and balanced lifestyle. In conclusion, having parks with sports complex will improve people’s living standards and promote good health. Regards, Mike
