Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
A local NGO working for the betterment of school-going kids, especially focusing on reducing the stress level in the new generation has sent out an opinion survey to see what people think about the presence of multimedia gadgets in house.
NGO conducting a survey:
Option A: Kids should have no access to gadgets like smartphones or iPad etc..
Option B: Kids should be encouraged to read books in their free time.
To whom it may concern, I want to opine in favour of kids not having any access to gadgets like smartphones, i-pad or tablets. There are an array of reasons to substantiate my preference. First and foremost, gadgets like smartphones, i-pad or tablets are so addictive for children. If they are not monitored, they can be exposed to unwanted media like adult content. Furthermore, with the numerous game apps available today, they are exposed to violent games that are not appropriate for small children. They try to imitate such fighting stunts in schools and at home, and with their friends. To top it all, they are glued to these gadgets for hours as they have endless content like games, cartoons, songs, movies etc. These activities, in turn, puts a lot of stress on their eyes, health and mental condition. Moreover, there are new sicknesses that have evolved due to the excessive use of electronic devices. Due to the reasons mentioned above, gadgets should be banned for children, till they learn to know what is good and bad for them. Regards, Thomas
