Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

Recently you visited the Zoological park and had an uncanny experience, as a man died by falling in the tiger’s enclosure. You were not able to do anything at that point but wanted to show your concern for the safety of the visitors.

Write an email to the Director of the Zoological Park in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • Give a description of the incident
  • Complain about the short fencing
  • Show your concern for the safety of the visitors

Dear Park Manager, Last week I visited the zoological park for a field trip exercise. I decided to visit because of the animals and the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, an incident occurred that claimed someones' life, a man fell into a tiger's cage. Even though I was unable to help in that situation, I would like to highlight some concerns about the visitors' safety. For one thing, although fencing is present, it is too short of protecting people against untamed animals. For another thing, there was not a safety guideline to follow. Finally, the fencing material appeared not strong enough to withstand fierce animals. The summer is fast approaching, and you usually have a lot of visitors. It might worth considering closing down to implement some safety measures. One life is already too much, and if proper safety measures are not implemented, a similar situation might occur. It might also worth considering changing the temporary fencing. The ideal fence should be firm and tall enough to secure the animals and keep the visitors safe. I look forward to a positive response. Regards, Sam
