Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.
City Development Survey :
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theatre.Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.
To whom it may concern, I think it would be better to have a shopping complex. Of course, a recreational Park is also a good idea, but a shopping complex would help develop the town. The shopping mall with restaurants will attract the people from other towns which will create more visibility of our town. A supermarket will benefit everyone around as currently, we are going 15 miles away to get our groceries. And, a movie theatre would be a perfect recreational time for our town people, they can enjoy their free time by watching the movie with their families in the theatre. We would be sacrificing our sizeable green area to develop the shopping complex. However, this will also create employment opportunities in our town. This will also help us in establishing a strong economy. Given this reason, I think a shopping complex would be a better option for our town. But I will support whatever the town decides. Thank you for allowing me to provide input on this issue. Kind Regards Mark
