Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions

Read the following information.

You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.

City Development Survey :

Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theatre.
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.

I would like to opine in favour of option A, as this seems to be a better choice and convincing for me. Even though option B is almost equally appealing, I would present a couple of reasons to substantiate my argument. To begin, This would be a welcome development as this would create jobs and raise revenue for the local government. The malls, restaurants and the movies theatres will consider the community residents for jobs first before any other applicants, everyone would have jobs, and tax would be deducted for the government. Moreover, everyone would be excited about these new facilities because it will save them money and the risk of travelling back and forth other nearby towns to enjoy these things, this will significantly lower the safety concern. The survey conducted last year concluded that people spent over $50 million annually commuting to other towns for shopping and seeing movies. People would now be glad to channel this money to support their local shopping complex, Considering these reasons above, I believe option A is a better choice and everyone would be overjoyed. Again, this is my personal opinion, I would support whatever decision is made. Thank you for giving me a chance to provide input on this matter.
