Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently organised a birthday party at a very famous and expensive hotel in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the hotel to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Hi Mr./Ms. Manager, My writing aims to complain about the meal and the service provided to me at your reputed restaurant. I had planned my wife's birthday party and booked a dinner table for six last Saturday, 19th June 2021. First of all, the meal we ordered was not up to the mark. I had ordered butter chicken which lacked its juicy flavour, and the chicken was over-cooked. Moreover, the bread was too hard to bite. I had to be embarrassed in front of my wife and family friends. Furthermore, the service was pathetic. Even though I pre-booked the table and placed the order two hours before reaching the venue, it took more than half an hour to serve the meal. After the long wait, the dinner was served cold. Also, even after telling the waiter about dry bread, he refused to replace them with fresh one's. I am looking forward to a formal apology and a full refund for my payment. In case a full refund is not possible, I would be expecting a partial refund. Your kind co-operation would be most appreciated. An open line of communication from your side, in this case, would greatly help out. Regards Felix
