Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Dear Restaurant's Manager, I'm writing this mail to express my dissatisfaction with the service provided during my last visit to your restaurant. Last week was my brother's birthday, and it was the first time he visited our town. So we wanted to make it such a memorable moment for him. As your restaurant was so closed to our home, we decided to make the reservation there. But Unfortunately, the level of the service and meal which provided to us was below our expectation. Although it took more than ]one hour for the main meal to reach our table, it was so cold and not tasty at all so, and I felt embarrassed in front of my brother, who seemed not so interested in the food. I believe you should do your investigations of what is happening during your absence. Moreover, as a lawful customer of your restaurant, I believe I deserve a free meal as compensation for what happened to me. Thank you for your kind understanding. Regards, Mark.
